In 2013 I helped launch the Knight Foundation-funded Mission & State, a nonprofit investigative reporting initiative in Santa Barbara, California, comprised of a small but dedicated team of reporters. I wrote in-depth long-form narratives that told the critical stories not being told elsewhere. I also produced multimedia reports and collaborated with local nonprofit and activist groups in the shared pursuit of social justice.
